My collection 'The Wild Pupil' has just received a lovely review by Colm Keegan on RTE Radio One's arts show Arena - check it out in my Recordings or at rte.ie/radio1/arena!
Launching at the Laois Leaves Festival!
My third national launch will be this November 9th at 7.30pm at the Launch of the Leaves Literary Festival, in Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise, along with launches of their new work by Jamie O' Connell, Ann Egan and Pat Boran. Dr. James Ryan of UCD will launch the books and all are welcome, so spread the word! Download a pdf of the festival programme at www.laois.ie/media/leaves%20festival%20brochure%20(2).pdf. Bringing women's voices to Dail Eireann: I'll be performing a rehearsed reading of my play This is My Constitution, based on women's letters of protest to de Valera about the wording of the Constitution ("by her life within the home, woman [!] gives to the State a support without which the common good cannot be achieved" - really??) with Maria O' Callaghan on November 29th in a room in Dail Eireann as part of a call for Constitutional change on gender. It feels amazing to know that these women's eloquent, rational voices will finally ring out in the halls of power where they should have been heard decades ago. Proof that creativity can be part of a driving force for real change! Launch Photos: It's been an eventful few weeks with the Dublin and Cork launches of The Wild Pupil going really well - photos to follow soon! Eurochild 2012 Launch at last! At long last the new issue of Eurochild (Poetry and Artwork by children all over the world) is ready, and the first launch event will be in Longford on November 6th - see www.eurochild.net for details - and watch this space for info on the launch of Stealing Shakespeare's Pencil, the stunning anthology of teenagers' poetry which we presented to President Higgins in the Aras last May! Sunday Circle: The next Sunday Circle will take place on December 2nd in Camden Palace Hotel (unless I post otherwise) from 12-2pm. All writers welcome, donation only towards Camden's maintenance, feel free to bring work for review by the group and we'll get to as many as we can! |
