The series of films in which I play a small part, Cork Pie, will be screened in the Bodega on July 5th to raise funds. I was in the first one 'Before the Car Arrives,' which has since been selected for lots of national and international festivals, most recently the Kansk Video Festival in Russia. The films are brilliant snapshots of Cork life by a hardworking and talented group of film makers so hope you get to go along and enjoy them!

_I have been awarded a grant from City Council to do some research into youth groups in the city, to find out what young people want offered to them creatively. If you know of an organisation, youth group, school, residential centre etc etc which might be interested to talk to me about this, please get in touch!

Drama and Creativity for Children Seeking Asylum: Actor and Drama Practitioner Maria O' Callaghan and myself will be running a series of workshops through the New Communities Partnership for children currently seeking asylum in Ireland in July and August, and the piece they come up with will be performed on September 6th for family and friends and everyone else - watch this space! THE STATION AT CORK MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL:
I'm one of three writers who will be sitting in Kent Station this Friday and Saturday, and next Thursday to Saturday, from 6pm-8pm, writing about the people going past, and our words will appear on big screens around the space! The project has been happening all over Europe and is great fun, so come along! Sunday Writing Circle: The Sunday Writing Circle is going from strength to strength. The next meeting is this Sunday from 12-2 in Camden Palace, if you write and would like to share your work in a supportive, friendly environment, please come along! Pay what you think it's worth, the money goes to support the excellent Camden Palace Hotel Arts Space. Eurochild Film: The film documenting how we've put together the Eurochild and Euroteen anthologies is available to view on Youtube - search 'Eurochild Moving Worlds.' It's not totaly finished but is a lot of fun and a good introduction to the project for potential future poets! |
